Navy and ochre check
Navy and ochre checks for a touch of character
FCFA 6,000 per metre
Width: 150 cm
Checked fabrics are made by alternating yarns of different colours in the warp and weft, so the grid is woven right into the cloth. They are associated with the British tailoring tradition, where checked woollens are used for jackets and coats.
A check adds interest to an outfit without overloading it, especially when used as an accent. In Douala it appears on modern jackets, as a panel or detail, for a sharp urban look.
Polyester and wool. A medium-weight fabric with a slightly woolly hand that holds its shape well.
Warmer than cotton because of the wool; used as a panel, it stays comfortable even in Douala.

Frequently asked questions
Is this wool blend warm?
Somewhat, because of the wool. That is why it is mostly used as a panel; as a full jacket it suits evenings and the rainy season.
Does the fabric shrink?
Wool can shrink in hot water. Dry cleaning or a cold hand wash avoids the risk.
Can I combine it with another fabric?
Yes, that is the idea behind the Bali two-fabric shirt jacket: part by part, a checked yoke on a midnight blue gabardine, ndop or kente body.
