Denim is a sturdy cotton twill, traditionally woven with a blue-dyed warp and a white weft. Its name comes from the French 'de Nîmes', the town in southern France associated with the origin of this cloth.
First a workwear fabric, denim became a casual-wear staple around the world. Here it is dressed up with embroidery, and in Douala it gives short sets a young, urban feel.
Embroidered cotton denim. A medium to heavy-weight, hard-wearing cloth with raised embroidery.
Sturdy and structured, thicker than light cotton; in a playsuit or shorts set it stays comfortable for daytime wear.

Frequently asked questions
Does denim bleed?
Yes, the indigo can run in the first washes. Wash it alone, inside out, at 30°C.
Does denim shrink?
Slight shrinkage is possible on the first wash. Avoid hot water and the tumble dryer.
Can I combine it with another fabric?
Yes, part by part when the style allows it: on the Ndokoti playsuit, for example, an ochre and black wax belt or pockets on a denim body.
