About this design

Worn as formal dress from West Africa to northern Cameroon, the grand boubou commands respect the moment you walk in. Our three-piece set brings together the flowing boubou, the tunic and the trousers, finished with embroidery around the collar. The border and details can take a contrasting fabric, such as kente against a crisp white bazin.

A badly cut boubou sags, slips off the shoulders or drags on the floor. Made to your measurements, it falls generously yet stays in place, and the length stops exactly where it should. It's a demanding design, entrusted to an experienced Douala tailor; the KOUTIVA team then checks the embroidery, the finish and the overall drape before handing it over.

Styling tips

  • Keep the boubou, tunic and trousers in the same fabric for a truly regal look.
  • On White bazin riche, use Gold and green kente for the border and details to lift the embroidery.
  • Fold the wide panels over your shoulders to free your arms and show the tunic.
  • Keep your shoes understated: the boubou should be the focus.

Choosing your fabric

White bazin riche is the classic choice for weddings, traditional marriages and religious holidays. Gold and green kente on the border or details adds a festive touch without weighing the outfit down.

Frequently asked questions

Does the set really include three pieces?

Yes: the grand boubou, the tunic and the trousers, all cut to your measurements.

Can I combine bazin and kente?

Yes. The body, collar, border and details can each take one of the offered fabrics, for example a kente border on a bazin body.

My wedding is coming up. Will it be ready in time?

We don't guarantee timings in advance. Tell us your ceremony date and the team will confirm what's possible when they call.
