About this design
The Bertoua set brings together a kimono-style crossover top and straight trousers. Wide sleeves add movement while the cinched waist keeps the silhouette sharp. It was designed for purple adire, the resist-dyed cloth from the Yoruba tradition of Nigeria, whose patterns open up across the generous surfaces of the top and trousers. A contrast border can highlight the crossover.
A crossover top has to close at the right height, neither too low nor too high, and a cinched waist is only comfortable when it matches your real waist. The straight trousers need to fall cleanly to the ankle. Sewn to your measurements by a Douala tailor, then checked by KOUTIVA, the set slips right into your wardrobe.
Styling tips
- Wear the full set for a ceremony-ready look.
- Split it up: the wrap top over jeans, or the trousers with a plain top.
- Add a fuchsia and green wax border for a vivid contrast on purple adire.
- Block-heel sandals keep the easy feel of the straight trousers.
Choosing your fabric
Purple adire is the signature choice for an elegant look at the office or in the evening; blue geometric wax and fuchsia and green wax feel more festive, and orange and indigo tie-dye suits casual outings.

Frequently asked questions
Where does adire come from?
Adire is a resist-dyed cloth from the Yoruba tradition of south-western Nigeria. Protected areas keep their colour during dyeing, which creates the patterns, so each piece has slight variations.
Do I need to come in to be measured?
No. You can enter your measurements online using the illustrated guide or, if you are in Douala, have them taken by a KOUTIVA agent.
Does the price include the fabric?
Yes. The price shown covers the tailoring and the fabric you choose. There is no online payment yet: our team calls you to confirm your order.
When will I receive my outfit?
We don't quote a fixed timeframe upfront: the KOUTIVA team tells you the expected timing when they call to confirm your order.
