Sky blue chambray
Sky blue chambray, the denim look in a lighter weight
FCFA 3,500 per metre
Width: 145 cm
Chambray is a cotton plain weave made with coloured warp threads and white weft threads, which gives it a slightly heathered look. Its name is generally traced to the town of Cambrai in northern France, a historic weaving centre.
Often mistaken for denim, chambray is in fact a plain weave, so it is lighter and finer. In Douala it is a favourite for everyday shirts, somewhere between relaxed elegance and hot-weather comfort.
100% cotton, 150 cm wide. A light, soft fabric with a characteristic heathered look.
Light and breathable, very pleasant in the hot season, and it softens with every wash.

Frequently asked questions
Does chambray shrink?
Slight shrinkage is possible on the first wash, as with any cotton. Wash at 30 or 40°C and avoid the tumble dryer.
How is it different from denim?
Chambray is a plain weave, so it is lighter and finer than denim, which is a twill. It is better suited to shirts in hot weather.
Can I combine it with another fabric?
Yes, part by part when the style allows it: for example a chambray New Bell shirt with blue wax collar and cuffs, or a chambray shirt under a gabardine vest.
